The Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) function serves as the New York City School Construction Authority’s primary liaison to elected officials and government partners at the City, State, and Federal levels.
IGA works collaboratively with government stakeholders to provide information and updates regarding SCA projects, capital investments, and other matters affecting New York City’s public-school facilities. The function coordinates responses to inquiries from elected officials and provides operational and governmental affairs support for public outreach and implementation initiatives, including those arising from legislative and regulatory requirements, such as New York State’s 2022 Class Size Reduction legislation.
 
Through this work, IGA helps strengthen interagency and intergovernmental coordination and ensures that government stakeholders have timely and accurate information regarding the SCA’s work, capital program, and related initiatives.
 
Government partners may contact IGA regarding:
Project status and construction updates; Reso A and discretionary funding; capital plan questions; district-specific project information; requests for briefings or meetings with SCA leadership; site visits; interagency coordination; legislative and regulatory implementation initiatives; and other inquiries from elected officials concerning SCA projects or programs.
IGA works with elected officials and their staffs, Mayoral and City offices, New York City Public Schools, City and State agencies, and other governmental partners on matters related to the SCA’s capital program and school facilities.
